A collection of the most common questions people ask when considering a MEKA Modular project.

Top 2 questions asked:

Q: Are your modules ok in colder climates?
Yes! We build your modules to your local building codes. That means that if you live in Nevada or the North West Territories your MEKA Module will have all the necessary components to pass local inspection.

Q: Can a MEKA module withstand an earthquake, hurricane or flood?
Yes! All local building codes are followed. Whether you are placing your module on a foundation or pilings, it is built to your specific local conditions and building codes.

Q: What are the steps involved in building my Meka?
It’s a simple 3 step process:
1) Select your MEKA. 2) Submit your land survey. 3) Work with your MEKA consultant through the design, permitting, build and installation process.

Q: Do your buildings meet local building codes?
Yes. Our modules meet or exceed all local building codes.

Q: Do you offer financing?
Our buildings fall under the category of Modular construction. You can use any local financial institution and apply for a construction loan. To do this, you will need to have us prepare a schematic which includes your floor plans and elevations and a cost estimate.

Q: Are these container buildings allowed in my city?
Our modules are not classified as containers. They are classified as light steel frame modular buildings which are allowed in any jurisdiction. We build our own modules to the dimensions of traditional shipping containers. The only similarity is the size.

Q: I am in a flood plane can you put your building on columns?
Yes, columns can be installed to meet local building codes. Your Meka design team can assist in you home’s foundation design requirements.

Q: Are your buildings able to withstand high winds?
Yes. All our buildings are designed and engineered to meet or exceed local building codes.

Q: Do you ship across Canada and the United States?
Yes.
We deliver all across North America. Our modules are shipped via flat bed truck.

Q: Do you provide local contractors?
Yes.
We assist in all phases of your project to get your building on the ground. Please follow the steps on our Get Started page.

Q: Do you offer warranty?
Yes. We offer standard 1 year on parts and labour, 5 years on electrical and plumbing and 10 years on the physical structure of your MEKA home.

Q: Can my local contractor install the building?
Yes. Our modules are designed as much as possible to be plug and play. Therefore any general licensed contractor can install our modules.

Q: I want to build a 3 bedroom house can you give me a quote?
We can not quote any cost unless we have detailed architectural drawings. Without these we can not quote as there are too many variables.

Q: How long does it take from start to finish to build?
The entire building process takes approximately 6 months for beginning to end. Surprisingly, it is not the fabrication process but the permitting that consumes much of that time period during the approval process.
